Que révèlent les statistiques, la surinformation, sur la société ? This world needs everything, except additional information ouvre cette réflexion à travers une installation mêlant une projection vidéo et une construction précaire. On y explore un paysage rural où des écrans de fumée se déploient, attirent l’œil, font disparaître pour quelques instants ce qui les entoure au profit d’une couleur intense et d’une trace persistante.
Images et textes sont projetés, répétés, découpés, reflétés, en écho aux flux d’informations et de datas qui nous environnent. Dans cette nuée s’établit néanmoins un jeu de correspondance entre des citations, issues d’une interview du mathématicien Olivier Rey, et la plasticité de la fumée traitée ici par la vidéo. This world needs everything, except additional information offre une proposition esthétique pour s’interroger : Comment faisons-nous société ? Comment allons-nous ?
Cette installation vidéo est le fruit de la collaboration entre Baptiste Conte, chorégraphe et plasticien, et Alix Dussart, plasticienne. Elle a été réalisée en 2017 dans le cadre de la Biennale Watch This Space 9 de 50°nord lors d’une résidence à La Chambre d’eau (France). Après avoir été exposée au FRAC Picardie, elle est réactivée à SB34-The Pool en septembre 2020 (encadré par le Parcours d’artiste et La nuit des galeries à Bruxelles).

What do statistics and over-information reveal about society? This world needs everything, except additional information opens this reflection through an installation combining video projection and precarious construction. We explore a rural landscape where smoke screens are deployed, catch the eye, make their surroundings disappear for a few moments which highlight an intense color and a persistent mark.
Images and texts are projected, repeated, cutted out, reflected, echoing the flows of information and data that surround us. In this cloud a game of correspondence between quotes is nevertheless established from an interview with mathematician Olivier Rey and the plasticity of smoke treated here by the video. This world needs everything, except additional information offers an aesthetic proposition to question:
How do we make society ? How are we ?
This video installation is the result of the collaboration between Baptiste Conte, choreographer and visual artist, and Alix Dussart, visual artist. It was produced in 2017 as part of the Watch This Space 9 Biennale of 50 ° North during a residency at La Chambre d’eau (France). After being exhibited at FRAC Picardie, it is now reactivated at SB34-The Pool.
