Based on a reflection on the violence induced by our lifestyles, the focus of this first part focused on the body of a bodybuilder and exercises a protocol allowing him to sculpt his body. The subject imposes a sporting protocol, physical fitness, and exerted on himself, a force to push the limits of his own body.

"Working with a bodybuilder, someone who builds his body, his interface with the world, who acts on himself as a result of his conception of beauty, interests me. Of course, excesses and absurdities interest me too, but do not need, it seems to me, to be treated to the extent that they are visible in the deformations inflicted on the body. The muscular body evokes the body of the warrior, the body shaped for the fight ... but in an urban, Western and contemporary society, its necessity is almost non-existent. But precisely this obsolete symbol of the struggle as if to keep alive the question, as if to symbolize that there is always a struggle. This seems to me to be an interesting parallel with the role of the attentive artist. "

« A smell of coffee welcomes the audience at the entrance of the room. In the center of a tri-frontal device, a large black tarpaulin on the ground is dotted with several unidentifiable piles of powder (earth pigments, coconut spices, grated coconut?)

Mysterious factual and contemplative ritual of body painting, performance puts in tension the notions inherent to the living spectacle: to watch and / or be watched, to dominate and / or to be subjected, to consent and / or to resist ... With De la Force Exercée, Lorenzo de Angelis continues his work with Weightlifter and continues to forge links between the imagination of a virtuoso body and a power struggle within a theatrical space. »
